"It was not easy for Abraham Lincoln to be the Abraham Lincoln
we revere today; it was not easy to be Susan B. Anthony, or Mahatma
Gandhi, or Martin Luther King, Jr. They were born, as all
of us are, with potential greatness. But the actualization
of that greatness was not predetermined. They could have decided
to do and be otherwise. Whatever spiritual force moved within their
hearts, luring them toward a magnificent destiny, is a lure that
exist in all of us. There is no rational formula for greatness,
for greatness is not rational. On some mysterious level,
despite whatever resistance they felt, the great are those who simply
said yes at times when others would have said no. Fear did not deter
them so much as it honed them. Something called to them from a higher
place, and they responded".

Day Grace"
The Mighty Men Convention is an annual
event organized by The Exhortation World
Outreach to re-establish the standards and natural roles of
real men. Sponsored by God through organizations like the Toronto
Church of Christ, the Mighty Men Convention is for every
man regardless of race, culture, religion and socio-economic background.
It is a must-attend event for men who think they may be at the end
of their ropes, as well as for those who would like to discover
new chapters in their lives - those with the REAL DESIRE
to ENHANCE their PERSONALITY, ENERGIZE their MARRIAGE, EQUIP their
PARENTING, EMPOWER their CAREER, and ENRICH their SPIRITUALITY.

Theme for 2007 - A Return to the GLORY of
Manhood
Keynote Speaker - Sam Laing
(Author of many books including "Mighty Men of God")
Date - Saturday, October 20th, 2007
According to Matthew, a Toronto Banker and participant in last year's
event, "The 2006 Mighty Men Convention
was a fulfilling experience and time, and I was so blessed by it
that I have even mentioned to some friends to keep their diary open
for the next Mighty Men Convention coming up on October 20th, 2007.
It would be an understatement to say that the event was highly encouraging.
All the discussions/topics were practical, well focused and demonstrated
by facilitators who have had first hand experience. No doubt, such
gathering would breed people with a purpose to excel in every area
of their lives. For me, it was a refreshing experience both physically
and spiritually."
Personally, I look forward to this event because I am concerned.
I am concerned about the current state of manhood in today's
society. I am concerned about the diminishing rate of men aspiring
to be Mighty Men of Valor in our churches, our schools, our workplaces,
our families and our societies. I am concerned that we may no longer
be the example that God has called us to be for our children or
the hero that God has called us to be to our wives. I am concerned
that the few good men of our days may be on the verge of extinction
- just like the dinosaurs. I am concerned that many men no longer
aim for the very best, but rather aim to avoid the worst!
Like Martin Luther King once said, "If a man hasn't discovered something
that he will die for, he isn't fit to live". As men concerned about
the deplorable state of manhood today, we have to come together
to build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.
Like the 137 men who initially came together to re-establish the
standards and roles of a REAL man, I believe that God created
man to be consistently SELF-ACTUALIZING, persistently a HERO to
his wife, remarkably an EXAMPLE to his children and publicly a SERVANT
of God. As a man with the REAL desire to consistently CHANGE,
continuously GROW and remarkably BLOSSOM, I am PRIVATELY and PUBLICLY
committed to the following "7even Godly Principles of a
Mighty Man":
7even Godly Principles of a Mighty Man
1
A MIGHTY Man recognizes
himself as a LEADER, and therefore assumes the role of a SERVANT,
without being asked. According to Jesus Christ, "If
anyone wants to be the first, he must be the very last, and
the servant of all." And Leo Rosten added, "The purpose of life
is not to be happy but to matter, to be productive, to be useful,
and to have it make a difference that you lived at all."
2
A MIGHTY Man recognizes his CAREER as
his DUTY, and therefore exercises more than the due diligence,
initiative, responsiveness and accountability. According
to Apostle Paul, "Work, not for the mere pay but from a desire
to serve". And Martin Luther King Jr., added that, "A man should
do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn
could do it no better."
3
A MIGHTY Man recognizes his FINANCES
as his LIVELIHOOD and EARNINGS for GOD, and therefore implements
DILIGENT financial plans to avoid stress and GLORIFY GOD.
According to the Book of Proverbs, "If you are wise, your wisdom
will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer".
And Confucius added, "The expectations of life depend upon diligence;
the mechanic that would perfect his work must first sharpen
his tools."
4
A MIGHTY Man recognizes that the WORLD
is desperately in need of LOVE and HOPE, and therefore shares
his FAITH consistently. According to Jesus Christ,
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely
I am with you always, to the very end of the age." And George
Bernard Shaw added, "The purpose of life is a life of purpose."
5
A MIGHTY Man recognizes that, though
mighty, he is NOT PERFECT; and therefore, he SEEKS and LISTENS
to advice from other MIGHTY MEN and WOMEN. According
to the Book of Proverbs, “Plans fail for lack of counsel,
but with many advisers they succeed.” And Goethe added,
“To accept good advice is but to increase one's own ability”.
6
A MIGHTY Man recognizes his BODY as
his MAIN VEHICLE and the temple of God, and therefore respects
and maintains it accordingly. A MIGHTY MAN does not
OVEREAT, does not SMOKE, does not ABUSE alcohol and drugs, and
does NOT fornicate or commit adultery. According to Apostle
Paul, “Do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that
you obey its evil desires. Do not offer parts of your body to
sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves
to God.”
7
A MIGHTY Man recognizes that his HEART
is THE GATEWAY to GOD, and therefore GUARDS it against IMPURITY
with all his MIGHT and STRENGTH. A MIGHTY MAN refrains
from pornography, and wicked and vulgar thoughts and discussions.
According to Jesus Christ, “Anyone who looks at a woman
lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
I, the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward
a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds
deserve.”
Collectively, we agreed that
A MIGHTY MAN acts instead of complaining, seeks PEACE instead of
blaming others, and APOLOGIZES instead of making excuses.
As MIGHTY MEN, we promised OURSELVES and GOD to continuously SOLIDIFY
OUR FAITH AND CONVICTIONS, BE RESPONSIVE even when the opportunity
is only perceived, and EVER READY to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN for OURSELVES,
OTHERS and GOD.
The website is so edifying and empowering. It cuts across to meet the
social, emotional, financial, relationship, physical and spiritual needs
of everyone. I am so blessed and encouraged by the words on it. The World
needs more of you with such excellent service provision.
Keep up the good work; your labour of love is not in vain.
As a young
man, Al was a skilled artist, a potter. He had a wife and two fine sons.
One night, his oldest son developed a severe stomach ache. Thinking it was
only some common intestinal disorder, neither Al nor his wife took the condition
seriously
“I have no doubt whatever
that most people live, whether physically, intellectually, or morally,
in a very restricted circle of their potential being. They make use
of a very small portion of their possible consciousness... much like
a man who, out of his whole body organism, should get into the habit
of using and moving only his little finger... We all have reservoirs
of life to draw upon, of which we do not dream.” - William
James
