Enrichment Forum |
Your enthusiasm is both encouraging and convicting. What can
I say? The Marriage Enrichment Forum was beyond my expectations.
I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The personal sharing of the
speakers, Tim & Brenda, was sincere and powerful. God has truly
worked powerfully in their lives. I look forward to seeing that
in my life although the journey is not likely to be pleasant.
The financial advice that was provided was both comprehensive
and enlightening. I feel better informed about how to invest
our money. I have been more careful about the use of my debit
card. It is no longer a substitute for cash as it has been in
the past. Conrad and I have been tracking our daily spending
habits, but admit we are not sure what this information is supposed
to tell us. The role-play that Joanna and Greg reenacted for
us helped to pull all couples together as we brainstormed for
solutions to the "problem."
I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the two books that I received
from this evening. I have been reading the book "Naked Fruit"
- about the Fruits of the Spirit for my quiet times and have
to say it is better than I expected. The author really forces
you to examine your heart and check your motives for doing righteous
acts. Am I relying on God? She acknowledges the battle between
the flesh and the spirit. Her life examples encourage me to
persevere. I will have to do another extensive study of each
fruit once the book is finished. I am on the last chapter. I
will read the other book "Good Marriage" shortly. One day soon
your generosity will be paid forward. When? Only God knows.
The fellowship I had with some of the women during dinner was
also great. I was given a clearer understanding of what it means
to concentrate on being holy rather than being happy in marriage.
It is about concentrating on others and less on my own needs.
The battle continues.

The forums that you have offered thus far have been extremely
valuable to us. You may have no idea . . . Wayne & I did arrive
late & entered when Tim was sharing about how his childhood
has affected who he is today, how he deals with his children
& how he relates to his wife. Our environmental & familial influences
merge together to make us who we are today. I learned that through
having constant involvement with strong Christians who are willing
to be real with us -- we can be vulnerable & molded.
One of the most rewarding parts of the forum was when we were
asked to turn to our spouse & let them know what we appreciate
about them. This was a simple, but a very important reminder
that enabled us to not take for granted our amazing spouses.
As you already know the financial insight provided was very
helpful. The budget worksheet was straightforward & clear. We
have recently purchased our first home & work very hard to keep
our finances in order to be above reproach. This tool is invaluable
to us. It was also encouraging to know that this wealth of financial
guidance exists within our reach. We learned any amount of financial
stability requires discipline. We very much appreciated the
chance to participate & seem to always be revived after any
type of Marriage Enrichment! Thank you very much for the invitation.
We look forward to the next forum.
Wendy & Wayne, Mississauga, Canada |
The real life examples that the speakers gave us were truly
an eye opener for us. It really gave us an idea as to what could
be expected for down the road. They were very open and honest
and I think that the group really appreciated them talking freely
with us. I'm happy for them that they are on the right track
and things are looking good for them.
Suzy and I also paid close attention to Tim as he gave some
good financial advice. We have actually started tracking every
dollar that we are spending. We started our expense tracker
for September 1st and we are recording all of our spending daily
on Excel. Thanks for the forum!
Neal & Suzzy, Etobicoke, Canada. |
I really enjoyed the forum and was very encouraged by the turnout.
I liked the different speakers and the theatre act, which really
allowed for different viewpoints. I would like to see more of
that kind of dialogue where people share experiences and get
feed back on how their situation could be handled differently.
Things I learned/unlearned/relearned included: Look at what
I am going to do through the hard times; Marriage is a lifetime
commitment with no escape hatch; Marriage is about me becoming
more like God; and do not be afraid/shy to get help.
Michelle & Mike, Mississauga, Canada |
We can't thank you enough. May the Lord shower you with happiness,
prosperity and good health to continue doing what you are doing.
You have helped our marriage and have enhanced our relationship
by introducing us to your marriage forums. We love participating
in them and especially in the discussions as we learn so much
from them.

Although I missed quite a bit of the session I still came away
feeling awed at how everyone was able to recognize and relate
to feelings, actions, and various events within our lives and
how we respond to them and it's not just happening in our own
lives. I was particularly grateful that Robert was able to identify
areas to work on. I too have areas that I need to work on and
I'm sure there are others that are not yet identified or acknowledged.
We have to continue to focus on keeping God within every aspect
of our lives!
Yesterday Robert and I spent some time together and went through
the list of questions on your spouse and it was a very healthy
exercise as we were able to get to know each other a little
better (after 25 years together; 18 married) Robert finally
knows my shoe size and I now know his greatest fear!
Although I didn't spend a lot of time getting to know the ladies
by arriving so late it was great meeting new people and getting
to meet some of those you only see within the Sunday service
but have not really met. Thanks again Alex; You and Stephanie
have done a tremendous job! This exercise has been beneficial
to us all in many different ways, looking forward to the next
one!
Margaret & Robert, Etobicoke, Canada |
I really have no words to put together the "Thank you". The
seminar has changed my live and the way I see my husband; I
understood that my family life was better, and I was just complaining
for nothing. The seminar has made me be a better person. The
best thing was that, during the seminar I feel as having not
only joined a team of good friends but a family of true Christians;
I am so proud.
We were very opened about family's issues and how to handle
them, particularly intimacy in the marriage with the reference
to the Bible. I was particularly surprised about my husband
reaction, as we were to leave around 6 PM to meet someone; but
I was surprised that he never asked to leave. Roger is very
impressed and he told me, these are people he will like to be
friends with; at least he can discuss family issues and growth
spiritually. Roger's love for me has changed for the pass two
days, he speaks more about things we have to work on, and we
are encouraging and appreciating each other much more.
I pray we can grow spiritually and that God will continue to
bless our ways so that we will do things involving kids as well.
Thanks for the good foods. May God bless each and everyone.
Anny & Roger, Brampton, Canada |
Speaking for both my wife and myself I wish to humbly thank
you for all your hard work in putting together a most necessary
evening, I learned that no matter how long you have been married
we can still relate to each other and share experiences that
we can all learn from.
I was impressed at the great variety of people you had at the
forum, from Catholics to Sikhs; that is quite an impressive
resume, my brother. I took the liberty of sharing about our
seminar with the leaders of my church, and I only pray that
they will take this as an example to seek and meet needs that
so desperately need to be met.
Greg and Joanna, Maple, Canada |
Ken and I really enjoyed the marriage enrichment forum, not
only was it a great date night, very informative and a lot of
fun, it was great to be reminded of how we really are not alone
in our marriages.
I know as a woman I can sometimes feel I am, but listening to
the other women and being able to share with them, I found a
lot of comfort. Thanks so much for opening your home to us and
for spearheading the forum. Ken and I are looking forward to
hosting the next one!
Kassie & Ken, Mississauga, Canada |
Once again Alex and Stephanie, thanks so much for your effort
in bringing this event together. Neigel and I had a wonderful
learning experience. It was really nice to once again be reminded
that the problems Neigel and I have are pretty much the same
as most couples have and to receive feedback on some different
methods to try to help lessen the problems and improve our understanding
of each other.
Your efforts are really inspirational - thank you!
Amanda & Neigel, Oakville, Canada |
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to participate to the
marriage discussions. You have the tremendous courage to invite
us and to guide us to find out that we haven't be doing things
the way we promised to do on our wedding day. It was the 1st
time that I attended a seminar to discuss such an important
social topic. Learning about other couple's experiences can
bring a lot in your marriage.
My wife and I have learned a lot from the seminar, especially
when people are open mind using Bible references to support
circumstances. We are practically working to improve our marriage
and are looking forward to joining the group at the next session.
Congratulations to you for the initiative and thanks to your
wife who accepted to support you in this difficult task.

This is an excellent work!
I think the effort that you have put into this, based on what
you have done/are doing with your family, is a great idea.
Purpose, Practice, Preach, Praise, Play and Pray: Simple, easy
to remember (much effort to apply!), useful and biblical. Hopefully,
this will be an effective tool and great help to many. Personally,
I love "The Family Fun Schedule", including the weekly planning
time! That may be one of the greatest needs in many families
who already have a spiritual focus. My grown up children still
love our family fun times together.
I commend you for doing this and for making it available!

| Mighty
Men Convention |
Getting 137 men together for a whole day of focus on men affairs
is a rare feat and highly commendable. What is more, the issues
discussed are practical and relevant. If we all put the nuggets
of truth learnt into use, several families and lives would have
been transformed. I salute all participants and the organizers
for their vision, courage and passion for a positive change.
See you all in Nov 2007. And for your personal and/or Business
Accounting and Tax filing, please email me at joetax05@yahoo.ca

I am honoured Alex. I wish I could be there to tell the participants
what a phenomenal person you are and how fortunate they are
to be in the venue at this time, when so many things are happening
that could easily keep them away.
You see Alex, one of the things that I learned in life, is in
the study of inertia. As an example, when a rocket leaves a
launching pad it burns most of the fuel. In essence, most of
the effort is actually leaving the launching pad, the higher
it rises the less energy is needed. The group that has chosen
to invest some time in learning some new ideas are close to
reaching the tipping point and are already on track, all they
need to do next is to say on that track.
The DVD that you are proposing to everyone, will be a big factor,
as they can re-live the experience and each time they do there
will be some more information, a nugget, that will dawn on them.
I hope that everyone who benefits from the experience pays it
forward… just imagine.
I am getting goose bumps as I write this note Alex. Keep doing
what you are dong, we need more leaders and friends like you
in this world.

The Mighty Men Convention was a fulfilling experience and time,
and I was blessed by it that I have even mentioned to some friends
to keep their diary open for the next Mighty Men Convention
coming up on October 27th, 2007. It would be an understatement
to say that the event/convention was highly encouraging. All
the discussions/topics were practical, well focused and demonstrated
by facilitators who have had first hand experience. No doubt,
such gathering would breed people with a purpose to excel in
every area of their lives. For me, it was a refreshing experience
both physically and spiritually.
- Matthew Olawo, Banker, Toronto, Canada |
The mighty men convention was a much needed time to be with
other men (away from women). It was inspiring and encouraging
to see so many men looking for conviction and help with their
lives. I found it empowering, as the lessons addressed the heart
and concerns of a man. I was impressed by the variety of topics
covered and found the event as a whole broke down some of the
boundaries that we men naturally put up between each other.
I would definitely attend again if given the chance.
- John Riddle, Mississauga, Canada |
I left the Mighty Men Convention armed with information that
to this day has changed my life. The DVD of the event has allowed
me to review the practical answers that I need to help maintain
the man that I am, and gives me the focus to build the relationships
that we as men need. The information about purity forced me
to concentrate on the daily challenges that we all face as men
and what we can do to help ourselves to be better men. The whole
atmosphere at the Mighty Men Convention taught me the importance
of regularly meeting with like-minded men. To see a Mighty Man

When I first heard about this event, I was a little sceptical.
I have done a lot of reading/studying on my own of what it means
to be a man, and I wasn't sure how it would go. Being surrounded
by a hundred men, with vastly different views, life experiences,
attitudes, desires, and goals seemed a lot off-putting. But,
in my heart, I knew that I needed the time, if only to get encouragement,
and see some faces that I had not seen in a while. Plus, my
wife certainly seemed enthused by the idea of me going. And
what sane man will resist his wife when she is set in these
things! I was a little intimidated by the men (a lot of them
were "older" and more "mature" than me), and I felt out of my
league. Slowly, but surely, some familiar faces started trickling
in, and by the end of the day, I was saturated with all kinds
of great advice and feedback. Overall, it was an incredibly
rewarding experience, and as soon as the details for 2007 go
out, I will be recommending it to my friends.
- Rémi Beaudette, North York, Canada |
All I can say is that the seminar was informative. It was well
organized, thoroughly done, and successful. It was great to
see that many men had come out to learn and absorb the wisdom
and knowledge.
With the speakers who share personally their stories, I think
it would be good if they can focus and share more "intimately"
to the audience on how they achieved the victories in their
life rather than their struggles or challenges.
- Tom Phan, Mississauga, Canada |
I attended The Mighty Men Convention in 2006, not really sure
what to expect; only knowing that my spiritual life needed a
revival and that it was important to get involved with the brothers.
Well, I'm excited to say that there was more encouragement and
zeal for God than I could have hoped for and it helped expand
my avenues of spiritual growth. This year I'm going, knowing
that I'll be spurred on to love God even more deeply!
- Adam Grant, Scarborough, Canada |
The 2006 Mighty Men conference was a remarkable event. It was
an honor to take part in an event that showed many men who are
continuing to strive for righteousness and were willing to share
that with members of the community. It was very inspiring to
see men shared about their subject with passion and deep conviction
which in my pint of view is lacking in our community today.
My prayer for the upcoming event is for us as mighty men to
forge ahead in prayer and in unity to help the men in our community
have deep convictions about their lifestyles and to be a contributing
force for evangelism of the entire world.
- Patrick Robinson, Alliston, Canada |
I, and all of us (I believe) have not only learned a lot from
here; we have grown already (at least) as a result . . . Thank
you

Very great job! Polished; great execution; well thought out;
impactful!

I believe that this is the type of public men-strenghtening
event that has been missing from most of our lives. Keep it
up, Alex!

Thank you Alex for taking the time to reach out to others and
making people in this world feel that they should make a difference
through prayer and utilization of one's talents, whatever those
may be. Perhaps if people in this world worked towards living
up to their God given potential, this world would start to make
massive turn around in every area of society and namely getting
ourselves back home to heaven. But it starts with inspiring
each other to inspire others and focusing not on self but outside
of self.

It is a blessing that I am part of Your Program and I really
appreciate that. I have read all your monthly articles and it
does touch our inner most; religiously, business and career
wise, and family life. I have read them over and over again,
thinking how I can change/improve my life, personally and spiritually.
What are my goals? Do I have goals that will enrich my life?
I find it very interesting and I’m learning a lot on it. Thanks
a million and God Bless.

I believe you are right; there are a great number of persons
going through life not doing anything for themselves or anybody
else because they some how forgot or failed to see the "Power
Within". And the busyness of life has never allowed those timid
souls the chance to see that they can be much more that the
ordinary and shadowy self that they are. You are right because
to all of them, someone forgot to tell them that God has good
plans for them and that God gave them all the necessary talents
and venues to succeed in a great and real memorable way, not
just to achieve, plainly; but to embed in history a part of
themselves!.

Wow! That was very inspiring. The struggle to get up and do
something is still there though. How do you know where to begin?
I know that I need to do something with my life. I am praying
about it and may be ignoring God's response.

This your best so far! Not too long, not too short; to the point,
and leaves you with a feeling to want to climb a mountain!

I enjoyed your editorial, it was quite revealing! The chronological
sequence with which the essay was written is also very good.
I have to say I that I agree with your train of thought.
